Current testers for a precise voltage measurement

The electrical tester measures voltage and current and it is suitable for both AC and DC voltage. As a multimeter it also determines other measurement data, in addition to the exact level of voltage. Thanks to its automatic detection, the instrument is suitable for all daily electrical measuring tasks, without the need for any switching.

Testing current safely – with the right instruments

A variety of instruments can be used to test current or voltage. A professional voltage tester not only enables you to get information about the presence of a voltage, but also detects resistance and other measuring values.

When deciding on an electrical tester, you have the following products to choose between:

With the two-pole voltage tester you get an instrument that provides particularly precise measurement data. The two test electrodes are permanently fixed onto the measuring instrument. This control unit has a visible display and its ergonomic shape makes it easy to hold securely. In order to protect the voltage tester and the user, the instrument is equipped with a variety of series resistors. When you want to carry out a measurement, you have to touch two different cables or other potentials with the test electrodes. Then you can read the latest voltage values on the display.

Current testers from Testo – for your safe use

Testo current testers are characterized by reliable measurement and voltage display, even when the battery is empty. The instruments don’t need to be switched on and they work without any pre-selection. These measuring instruments have the appropriate seals of approval for safety.

If necessary, you can simply replace the measuring tips so you are able to keep testing the current safely. The electrical tester make an automatic detection of the electrical parameters, which means no separate selection is needed.

Testo has two current testers available for you, which both provide a reliable result and a versatile capability:

  • the testo 755-1 current/voltage tester, with batteries, measuring tips and measuring tip caps,
  • the testo 755-2 with a larger voltage range up to 1000 volts.

The electrical tester for precision measurements

In comparison to other voltage measuring instruments, the two-pole test instruments impress with their multi-functional capability and their accurate results. There are measurement categories for voltage testers which are intended to ensure optimum personal protection.

CAT III two-pole voltage testers are reliably protected against overvoltage and therefore also withstand a short circuit. Testo’s voltage testers are very convenient and safe to operate, thanks to their handy size and a weight of 320 grams. They are suitable for an operating temperature of between -10 and +50 degrees Celsius and have protection class IP64.

The following technical data apply to both Testo’s current testers:

  • the measuring range is 6 to 600 V or 6 to 1000 V, depending on the instrument,
  • the resolution is 0.1 V,
  • the precision for AC and DC is ± 1.5% of measured value + 3 digits.

Testing currents: what you need to keep in mind

Always operate the voltage testers with two hands, so you avoid accidentally touching the test electrodes which are energized. In addition, the test instruments meet the strict safety requirements and bear the CSA and CE seals.

Before you test the voltage, a function test is worthwhile. In order to do this, hold the instrument on a current source that is already known and check whether the display is correct. The measuring point illumination by LED and digital display will help you through this process and during current testing in general.
