How to measure current with the multimeter
The current strength is measured in amperes and indicates what electrical charge flows through the defined area in a given period of time. Instruments such as the clamp meter are used for the measurement, while the multimeter is employed to measure direct and alternating current.
This is how to proceed when you are measuring current with the multimeter:
- set the measuring range (start in the high measuring range if the values are unknown),
- activate and open the electric circuit,
- apply the measuring cables and close the electric circuit again,
- the ampere value is measured and shown on the multimeter display.
